If they’d used “Linus and Lucy” as the jingle for a show that people saw every day we might be sick of it

Yes, and that’s some of the potency of Christmas.

When you’re a kid, a year is a long time. Yet every year there is this ritual that only happens then.So the books, the music, the movies and tv specials, the food, they are familiar, but not too familiar.

Later, we try to replicate all that, but it’s worn away. All those special things, you get control of them as an adult. So cashews and soda, something that might show up a couple of times other than Christmas, yiu can have any time you want, and cease to be a mysterious thing that comes at Christmas.
