HOWTO make $200,000 off of the above-inflation USPS postage hike

I don’t want “good” mail. I just don’t want half a forest murdered on my behalf each week to offer me XTREME DISCOUNTS!!!111!! I can safely say I have never received a single piece of junk mail from FedEx or UPS. I do have a bin next to my door where 97% of my “mail” gets filed each afternoon, and then gets dumped into the recycling bin each week.

The USPS lives and dies by the junk mail business. They are easily the largest spammer in the world. I would happily bribe them $10 a month to make the cost of sending me something from anyone that isn’t from a government agency $5 instead of their discounted junk mail prices.

The USPS doesn’t live and die by junk mail by choice. Your favorite business friendly republican congressperson handicapped the shit out of USPS while requiring USPS to deliver all that junk mail so UPS and DHL and Fedex could concentrate on sucking up all the profitable business. Cf public versus for-profit education, etc, etc. That’s how it works. You’re not allowed to operate anything of community benefit, only stuff that the likes of Mitt Romney can monetize.

So step one is “be incredibly rich in the first place”?

That’s always step one.

You’ll need to attend my seminar to learn more. It’s a bargain.

So 4.3% profit, only if you had 4.6 million to spare, plus gambling on volume and low costs for selling? And probably more variables I’ve yet to account.

I think it’s more efficient just to keep betting on black at the casino untill you make more than 5%.

Kind of OT, but packages that are delivered by UPS are routinely opened and examined. I haven’t experienced the same with the post office. I started to notice delays in promised ship by dates, and that the packages appeared re-taped and in one instance, the product was destroyed by a box cutter. Lo and behold, one of the guys from the company informed me that UPS is going through packages looking for drugs. They are supposed to stamp that the package was inspected, but I saw no evidence of this. I’ve never ordered drugs online. Supposedly the staff at UPS was getting special training on examining packages. I don’t know if this is an offshoot of the NSA or DEA, or both. I just know I don’t want another person touching what I order, with no chain of custody, in case something is tainted or altered. I’m not sure why this would be more common for a private carrier versus a government based carrier like the USPS.

Taking advantage of a dysfunctional system to fleece the taxpayer is for everyone now, not just banksters!

One can easily find stamps available at a discount from face value on ebay.

Or it could just be because you push the same dumb bumper sticker “monopoly” narrative that fellow Rand-roids do:

http://blog.aynrandcenter.org/the-post-office-is-a-real-monopoly/

It’s also a hoot to see Rand-roids complain about businesses paying to mail out advertising. What about ‘speech’ maaaaaan…

“By contrast, there are no coercive monopolies on a free market.”

HAHAHAHAHA!!! And why aren’t extreme neoliberals taken seriously?

Uh, it isn’t a fabricated narrative that the USPS has a state sanction monopoly. It is the undisputable objective fact. A private company can not deliver mail unless *“the amount paid for private carriage of the letter equals at least six times the current rate for the first ounce of a single-piece First-Class Mail letter (also known as the “base rate” or “base tariff”) or the letter weighs at least 12.5 ounces” * (source:the Wikipedias).

Wow there killer! That is a lot of pent up anger to take out on a strawman. What did that strawman ever do to you?

  1. I think there is a pretty solid argument to be made that people dumping shit on your doorstep is not free speech, but instead dumping shit on your doorstep, which I think is frowned upon in most flavors of political thought.

  2. Where the bloody fuck did you get that I don’t believe that there are no coercive monopolies in a free mark? There are lots of monopolies in in a free market, and lots of potential for more. Further, I want to the government beating the shit out of these monopolies. If I was el dictator I would never let something like the NBC/Time Warner or AT&T/T-Mobile mergers happen in a million fucking years.

  3. I am a strong advocate for wealth redistribution and have a great deal of admiration for the Nordic model. I am pretty sure that in America that makes me a raging socialist, and a very bad “Randroid”.

  4. Grow the fuck up. Just because the objective fact that the USPS ship fuck-tons of junk mail and that this is their major business which they happily cater to, and the pretty reasonable opinion that that is fucking obnoxious, is something a Rand follower can agree with, doesn’t mean you also have to disagree with it. It is entirely acceptable to share some of the same opinions as people you don’t like without sharing all of their opinions. I am pretty sure that there are KKK members that like pizza. It is okay to like pizza. Rand nuts hate the USPS and want sane drug laws. It is okay to agree with them on those issues without also having to believe that the state needs to be dismantled.

just pay in cash at the post office and you won’t have to pay shipping. ps: they would totally love if you pay in ones cause they always need them.
