If there's a "gaming disorder", why isn't there a "smartphone disorder"?

Substitute ‘self-indulgent blog’ for ‘online gaming’ and you have the reason I divorced my X with Zero F#@ks Given. You can’t live with someone In Real Life when they no longer have any connection - physical or emotional - to real life.

To be fair, we used to have better entertainment line ups… You just don’t get flying pigs while standing in lines anymore.

But seriously, this point especially is great:

I think the whole hostile young men are the only gamers is just reinforced by that whole narrative, which both those who do identify as gamers and those who identify gamers as a problem wish to reinforce. It gives them both some measure of cultural importance, for the former is codifies their “outsider” identity and the latter, makes them seem to better understand the current climate more than they actually do.

Does that make sense? I’m not sure I’m making sense. Should I stop making sense?

Because normal, mainstream people spend too much time on their phones, so it can’t be a “disorder.”
