There were fires all over the Michigan area in 1871, not just Peshtigo, Chicago and the Upper Peninsula, but the Lower Peninsula as well.

I don’t think they ever really knew how many lives were lost as they did not really know just how many people actually resided there at the time. This might be covered in the podcast.
