Insect apocalypse - mayfly population has dropped 50% since 2012

Rather than contemplate the chain of ecological collapse that this is probably at the base of, I will instead choose to be curious about what kind of species will bloom in the absence of the mayflies. Im sure it’ll be less pretty and less useful to humans and other animals that we like, at least if the jellyfish analogy holds up.
