Kshama Sawant, running as a Socialist on a platform of rent control and $15 minimum wage has pulled (marginally) ahead of the the incumbent (who already declared victory) in the latest count in the city council elections.

Many of us would consider ourselves lowercase-s socialists… referring to the social philosophy rather than the political.
