Good question, and I really don’t know the answer? I don’t know where informing the public and rewarding people who do the hard and difficult working of doing so crosses the line into exploitation? We need to know what’s happening in the world so we can make informed decisions when we act in our role as citizens. But at the same time, when does this stuff become just
 almost pornographic? Like we’re watching or looking at it due to some sort of motivation other than understanding.

I think this award has always had these criticisms. But I think the worst effect of this never-ending pornographic orgy of violence is when we start to become anesthetized, without caring much, because next week another tragedy will appear.

I still get outraged when I see certain photos and read certain reports. I think it makes me feel like I still care and that I haven’t become completely cynical.

The other part of that article is whether, as Israeli propaganda claim, the photographer had any knowledge of attacks due to links with Hamas.

Which is also a complex question as much of western media is fully in the pocket of IDF propaganda departments. CNN broadcasts under their aegis and subject to their agreement for example. The IDF has also been murdering journalists at a rate never before seen.

World Central Kitchen, the charity founded by celebrity chef JosĂ© AndrĂ©s, said it was aware of the reports and would “share more information when we have gathered all the facts.”

“This is a tragedy. Humanitarian aid workers and civilians should NEVER be a target. EVER,” WCK spokeswoman Linda Roth said in a statement.
