Japanese artist Makoto Azuma launches beautiful plants into stratosphere

What a lovely way to kill something beautiful.

Maybe I just woke up on the crabby side of the moon, but… … … I don’t grok this.

I think that he was attempting to provide a habitat for the space geckos…

I wonder if he’s related to Azuma Kiyohiko?

Won’t somebody think of the petunias?

I think it’s beautiful in a similar way to Weiwei’s “Dropping a Han Dynasty Urn”. I’ve also experimented with launching cameras with high altitude balloons and I find the clarity of the images taken from that height to be exquisite. As my little brother likes to say (although often tongue in cheek), “Don’t hate–appreciate.”
