The most despicable part is Ms. Gardner’s mealy mouthed unwillingness to own her redirecting of the site’s mission. For someone so hostile to the tech industry, she certainly has their knack for dissembling down. It’s sad to watch yet another demagogue gut a promising non-profit.

I’m wondering how the organisation was set up, if a co-founder of the thing could be sacked just like that.

There are a few ways depending on how they structured it. If it was set up as an unequal partnership, one partner might have the ability to force another out. Or a majority of the partners might be able to vote partners out, in which case the guy taking her job in the company might be directly complicit. Either way it’s a dark day for tech journalism.
