Julian Assange dragged from Ecuador's embassy in London and arrested

Assange description of the day:

“In the end, the man who reportedly smeared feces on the walls of his lodgings, mistreated his kitten, and variously blamed the ills of the world on feminists and bespectacled Jewish writers was pulled from the Ecuadorian embassy looking every inch like a powdered-sugar Saddam Hussein plucked straight from his spider hole.” -TheAtlantic

Just to remind folks what Manning did to really piss off her superiors. This is a video of a group of Iraqis meeting in the street in Baghdad. The group included a Reuters journalist. What followed definitely doesn’t bode well for Assange’s “journalist” defense. Being a coward, I have no interest in telling truth to power, cos power occasionally takes it badly.

Barrett Brown suggests Assange is a bit of a arsehole, and he does have personal knowledge of him. However one shouldn’t lose sight of what cost Chelsea Manning her liberty and why she is in jail again, regardless of Assange being a bit of a tool.

That sounds pretty bad. That guy at the DNC was wrong and it sounds like he has some issues with anti-Semitism to work out.

Hey, what’s your take on Israel Shamir?

Those Swedish charges wouldn’t bring him to the US. The bullshit hacking charges have an 8 year SoL, so that deadline was about to run out.

My understanding was that there were not any current Swedish charges. He was wanted with regard to allegations for interview. Charges might follow but have not yet been filed.

Or do i have that wrong?

I think you nailed it. Once he goes to prison for rape, the world moves on. As a political prisoner of the US: still in the spotlight.

Neither do I, but I believe he believes he is.

Yes, but much like us broadcasting about the abuses of the soviets on the VOA, the American people still benefit from having the lies of our power elites exposed.

I can’t get my head around the level of mental gymnastics and cognitive dissonance required to be more angry about the lies being exposed than about being told those lies by your government in the first place.

Just remember Assange played a huge part in Trump being elected. I think after Vietnam and the Iraq War we knew our government lied to us. We didn’t need evidence that helped Trump get elected. You can sit here and try to say all the good WikiLeaks got ya but, the damage Trump is doing to our country isn’t worth what we already knew.

Well sure, given that, you know, it fucking is at least half empty.

From what I have seen, there’s more concern about the fate of his cat than his.

Yep. We are well and truly fucked.

Eh, makes sense. We can agree with Assange or disagree with him, love him or hate him. But the internet loves kitties, and I think we all can agree that in any case, the cat hasn’t done anything wrong.

“ The letter

In their letter to Sajid Javid, 70 parliamentarians - chiefly Labour MPs and peers - urged him to “stand with the victims of sexual violence” and ensure the rape claim against the Wikileaks founder could be “properly investigated”.

“We do not presume guilt, of course, but we believe due process should be followed and the complainant should see justice be done,” the letter said.”

“Speaking to the BBC, one of the letter’s signatories, Stephen Kinnock, said the events surrounding Assange had “become politicised”, and that the letter was intended “to underline the point that first and foremost Mr Assange is accused of rape and sexual violence in Sweden”.

“It is vital that doesn’t get airbrushed out of the conversation.”

You mean by revealing that the DNC cheated and forced a faulty candidate to oppose the Drumpf?

You’re comparing a political party being involved in its own candidate selection with Russians choosing Trump?
