They’re contemplating Larry’s death, and Conan makes it the funniest thing in the world. And that, kids, is why ya gotta always consider the context!
obligatory:
Larry King, not Live
RIP
Haven’t he done so many interviews, which have been recorded, that he could form the basis of a computer program?
Inititially, it wouod be played with a keyboard, an operator typing the words and selecting gestures (or maybe an operator for each). Kind of like a Mellotron.
But AI could analyze those interviews, so the program would emulate Larry’s thinking, and the show could go on forever.
I don’t really have fond memories of Larry King, to be honest. He seemed like he was the penultimate Wall Street Republican on his interviews: superficially neutral, but really a supporter of wealth as a sign of virtue. Kind of fitting that his last show was carried by Russia Today—I mean, RT.
Guy had a long life. I am much, much more saddened by the passing of Mira Furlan.
As I posted elsewhere
Seriously, it would be ghoulish to continue to profit from a personality after death, when there are so many talented living people who could be doing that work instead.
Tell that to the universities.
