Trans people are doubtless at the top of American fascists’ death lists. They were also high up amongst the early targets of the original Nazis. The books being burned in this famous photo taken right after the Nazis took power are the research library of Magnus Hirschfeld’s Institute of Sexology, many if not most of them early examples of what we now call LGBTQ+ studies.
