Oh, man, I used to like that movie. It’s been a very long time since I’ve seen it, but that was around the time my dad had really gotten into cycling, and my hometown had the Hotter’n Hell 100 bike ride every August, a ride my dad completed several times. So I can remember watching that movie with him several times when it was on HBO. Rae Dawn Chong was in it, too! And John Amos.
No surprise. In April 2020, with campaign funds, she reimbursed herself $22,000 for mileage, claiming she drove 39,000 miles (1-1/2 times the circumference of the earth) and paid $19,000 off a lien on her crappy, food poisoning, gun-themed restaurant.

That was my thought too – I can’t find anywhere on the Leadville 100 website that mentions admission fees for anything but participating.
