Legendary "lost" medieval chess piece found in drawer, expected to go for £1 million at auction

There was more than one set in the horde. 90 odd chess pieces and some other gaming counters.

Yay Noggin the Nog – my favourite bedtime cartoon when I was a nipper.

The pieces Ron and Harry are playing with in the first movie are Dr Finkel’s own replicas which he received as a child.

Doesn’t look like the Treasure Act of 1996 cover this. I thought it only covered stuff that was dug up, but in any event doesn’t cover non-metal stuff (unless that stuff was found with a horde of metal objects).

I hope a philanthropist buys it and adds it to the collection, but I saw hurrah for this nice Scottish family to make a million pounds off their good luck.
