The NYT even published a serious discussion of this possibility recently. According to the author, this could have ended WWI early and entirely prevented WWII as we know it.

I think he meant “Leninist” in the sense that he admired Lenin’s tactics, the idea of a vanguard Party driving the revolution even if the masses weren’t ready for it, and so on. Everything I’ve seen and read about Bannon is that he’s a fairly typical far-right white supremacist in other regards.
