I have an acquaintance in the medical field who had been using TrueCrypt to encrypt clinical files. She does not work in a hospital setting with large IT support, but rather across multiple offices and multiple practices and so needs to keep files accessible across multiple platforms (Mac OS 10.6.8, Win XP, Win 7, Win 8, and eventually Win 10). She is doing container encryption, not whole disk and not individual files. She stuck with TrueCrypt as the only software she was aware of that met all the requirements, but as we approach the two year anniversary of TrueCrypt’s death she’s been looking for a replacement.
Does anyone have a good recommendation for a new tool she can use? So far VeraCrypt, CipherShed, and BestCrypt have been mentioned but none have been explored in depth.
