I disagree, actually. I think that when Rob posts articles about Reagan and Nixon using disgusting racial slurs and then, in the same paragraph, just casually throws out that Mickey Mouse is a minstrel character, heā€™s obliquely but clearly saying Mickey is racist.

[ETA] Also, I obviously canā€™t speak for what @beschizza himself meantā€¦ youā€™ll really have to ask him if he intended for Mickey of today (or of 1970s) to be considered racist.

I put in Mickey in the hope it would generate the kind of anguished denial and rationalization that accompanied discussion of Reaganā€™s racism until, well, two days ago.
