I disagree, actually. I think that when Rob posts articles about Reagan and Nixon using disgusting racial slurs and then, in the same paragraph, just casually throws out that Mickey Mouse is a minstrel character, he’s obliquely but clearly saying Mickey is racist.

[ETA] Also, I obviously can’t speak for what @beschizza himself meant… you’ll really have to ask him if he intended for Mickey of today (or of 1970s) to be considered racist.

I put in Mickey in the hope it would generate the kind of anguished denial and rationalization that accompanied discussion of Reagan’s racism until, well, two days ago.
