What’s a “coin?”
It’s slang for any cryptocurrency. Or a credit-card compilation device.
You can sort them mechanically because unlike the credit card device, cryptocurrencies have no physical presence. So the sort is instantaneous and always operates in O(1) time.

Many many moons ago I worked for a company that made Xray fluorescent analyzers. Made a one-off to detect the amount of silver in Canadian quarters. The machine used a radioactive source to do the detecting, sorting the coins so ones with silver content could be melted down, the silver being worth more than 25 cents. Coins came from businesses, when cash was a thing. An odd project, and apparently legal, though when I was sent to install it, the whole thing looked pretty shady.
