In late 90’s my second phone was a half-busted Nokia 9000i. Its battery, sick at the time of obtaining, died soon and was replaced with a 7805 stabiliser with a yellow LED in its “base” to bring the voltage to 7 volts, on a heatsink filed down to fill the battery compartment. The new battery was a 12V sealed lead acid one I carried in a separate pocket.
My work colleagues promptly nicknamed it “Bomb”, and “call my bomb” or “I’ll call you on bomb” or “I’ll be on the bomb” became common expressions in the office.
…once the wires ignited in the subway when the cable to the walkman shorted. Did a thick stream of smoke and a thicker stream of curses. The next day I bought a 2.5 amp Polyswitch fuse and attached it to the battery.
These laws are elastic enough to make me commit a dozen potential crimes between a breakfast and a snack just by thinking and freely associating.
Seriously, FUCK THEM.
