I never realized how far north the UK is until I was there during the Summer Solstice. Sun goes down at like ten and comes up at four.
I worked in the Western Highlands one summer, across from the Isle of Skye. Dusk was at 11pm; I never saw the sunrise, since it was only a few hours later and I was always exhausted enough to sleep through the night.
From my perspective, it was literally never night.
