Microsoft releasing new edition of Flight Simulator

Isn’t MS Flight Simulator still used in some flight training schools for private pilots? I remember talking to someone who got their pilot license mention they used it for some practices before they were taken up in a real plane for more practice.

You can get an X-Plane setup that counts towards your FAA certification flight hours (and I guess it wouldn’t be that expensive if you’re the sort of person who’s considering becoming a certified pilot)
