Military academies and different standards

Well since the original topic is “throttled”

… I’d expect nothing deeper than mindless support for militarism and all things gunshooty

the same reason cops are subject to different standards than everybody else

The curious detail, which the dissent wasted no time in observing, is that military academies got an exemption, because of “potentially distinct interests”; but civilian colleges and universities with ROTC programs did not(not even a narrowly scoped one for ROTC participants only); despite the fact that both of these are where officers come from; and argument that there’s a military interest in having a sufficiently diverse and experienced officer corps to lead diverse troops presumably applies to officers regardless of source.

Clearly they were trying to throw the DoD a bone, because Our Troops; but only a small and strategically chosen one.
