2 + 2 = 5 is true. Only for very large values of 2
$1.52 per person? Bloomberg really COULD buy the world a coke.
Doubtful given NYC’s position on sugary beverages.
Well, he could buy the United States a Coke…
lol. I assume you know who she is though.
I couldn’t make it to the end. Way to cringey.
For values of 2 larger than 2.25 and less or equal to 2.75.
i.e. 2.49 + 2.49 = 4.98
No clue.
For small values of 5 as well.
We round to the nearest integer, so 2.26 + 2.26 = 4.52. Or, (more than) 2 + (more than) 2 = (less than) 5.
So according to his math we would all get one dollar?
No. I would not vote for Bloomberg for $1
A million dollars? Yes. But then I would donate at least half of that to Bernie.
This sort of meme has been floating around for years. Any time hundreds of millions are spent on something, they are like, “350 Million? Just eve each person a million bucks!”
And then a bunch of
“Hell yeahs!”
and
“No no, we would each get a dollar.”
I feel so exhausted
“People on Twitter are saying…” is the laziest thing in journalism.
I googled:
Her post is factually correct in one regard. Bloomberg is supposedly worth 60 billion - $60,000,000,000. If he had given $1,000,000 to every American, he would still have money left over - $59,673,000,000. If she had said “if he had given $1,000,000 of that $500,000,000 to every American…” then she would have been wrong. But if you consider her as thinking of Bloomberg’s overall value, she was right.
$500,000,000 divided among 327,000,000 people is $1.5290519877675840978593272171254 each.
I’ll take a buck fifty
Yeah, no. Go check your numbers.
$1,000,000 times 327,000,000 individuals = $327,000,000,000,000–three-hundred-twenty-seven trillion dollars, which is far more money than Bloomberg has (and is about 15 times the entire U.S. GDP).
And for very small values of 5!
