Having any bit of one’s body in a whale’s mouth is plenty good enough for a story. Why would a magazine need to embellish it from there?
I mean, who’s going to challenge you? Nobody.
How likely is it that after you’ve had your head or arm or whatever in a whale’s mouth, anybody will top that? “Oh, yeah? Once a whale got both my arms, and half a leg!”
Yeesh! Tabloids.
