Wow, those tires are definitely way over warranty. Of course that’s hardly surprising considering that it’s currently about eight years into its two-year mission.

I’m sure there’s a good reason for it, but I’ve never really understood why the wheels for the mars rovers are all milled from a single piece of aluminum (easily punctured in the thin sections) rather than made with a more compliant design like what the moon rovers had.
