Did you build your house next to a soft soil steep hillside in a place that gets heavy rains? Do you really need NASA to tell you it was a bad idea?

You think engineering is pretty much just a matter of eyeballing it? Any idiot can tell a safe site from an unsafe one? I almost bought a really unsafe house with a beautiful view, and I couldn’t even discern the mechanical properties of the soil.
