If you buy into the central conceit of religion then why wouldn’t you put a murderer on a pedestal? Of course, no actual Christian should be associated with these terrible crimes, neither should the religion. All that bad stuff happened in the past and now it’s just a celebration of Christ’s life blah blah blah.
Religion is poison.

And the Church does good things where there are disasters. So that makes it OK to spend tithing building a damn shopping mall.
