Neal Stephenson's Seveneves: five thousand years of apocalypse and rebirth

The first part which I have read is insanely depressing but pretty good in orbital mechanics and what can be done if we eliminated most but not all(no Orion nuclear pulse propulsion so far) of the man rating rules.
Bonus points for Bechdel slam dunk, almost no men even rate mention until at least 1/4 of the way into the book, it illustrates just how starkly we just take it for granted in reverse.
I am up to the “hard rain” and so far reminds me of a darker Lucifer’s Hammer up through the impact chapter.
This book is really interfering with me getting any work done, can’t put it down.
