Yeah, that’s what must have happened to mine. It was great for about a year or two, then it stopped working.
I just use a waiter’s corkscrew now.
If you still have it, replacement screws are just a few dollars each.
I think I gave it away. I kept it protected, using the plastic tip cover. I remember swapping out the corkscrew with the replacement and it wasn’t any better. It’s just too high maintenance compared to the inexpensive alternatives.
When I bartended, we had a big guy bolted to end of the bar that worked well in opening up multiple bottles. If I entertained a lot, I’d seriously consider getting one of those.
I’ve seen those, they are impressively built; I wonder if they also have better screws than their cheap home equivalents?

I used Mr Robut last night… I misrememeber’ed – he doesn’t center the screw like the rabbit or this Oxo one. His screw is all loosey goosey. He does feature an almost usable foil cutter built in his feet.
