While John Lennon never actually said, “Ringo isn’t even the best drummer in the Beatles”, I like to think he did.
(I kid, I kid. For all the shit Ringo gets, he really is quite a good drummer.)

Heh. Gotta love our Mr. Lennon lip-syncing the backwards vocals at the end of Rain.
Then why is his drum set so much smaller than Alex Van Halen’s?
Posted here before I think; a fun tribute to Ringo:
That was beautiful.
Those songs are pretty good, but these guys better hire a serious video director or they are going nowhere, mark my words.
Fun fact: Ringo’s only recorded drum solo while in the Beatles was in The End.
Hmmm yes. That would have been John and Paul’s doing. George Harrison made it clear the Paul made him feel like a rubbish guitarist for a long time, and George Martin also mocked him.
Ringo was famous well before The Beatles. He likely would have been toppermost even without them. Not something John and Paul would easily have digested.
Make no mistake - I am the hugest Beatles fan. But especially after Brian Epstein died, the love fest took weird forms.
I recall reading that Ringo didn’t like drum solos, and had to be coaxed into performing this one, which seems to have a touch of parody to it, if you ask me.
