Nkechi Diallo, formerly Rachel Dolezal, charged with welfare fraud

Whoops. I didn’t realize that had posted. I’m still doing cleanup on my family history and saw that, the most Polish name I’ve run across and thus the whitest name.

No. Not once in 45 years now.

Well, like you and me, she does have black ancestors.

Kareem Abdul Jabar’s column actually flipped my opinion of this woman. If she wants to say she’s black, then I’m happy to oblige her.

This is not a topic about gender identity. Attempting to derail the topic with that sort of whataboutism is a sure path to having your posts eaten.

Unfortunately, this also meant removal of otherwise great rebuttals as well. Let’s not go there again, please.

sigh one last time; normaly, those people make no secret of that fact, dolezal, on the other hand, just simply lied about herself.

she lied about it, ok? plain and simple.

Is that gif overlaid with text for the terminally stupid who can’t understand the significance?

People on this thread might have a lot more compassion if they watched “The Rachel Divide” on Netflix, excellent and thought-provoking look at her story. She grew up taking care of her younger (and abused) black siblings, married a black man and has two black children herself. Plus, she’s fought tirelessly for civil rights and was on the front lines of Black Lives Matter.

And anyway, as someone who’s watched the welfare system close-up through a friend I can tell you it’s hopelessly rigged clusterfuck that makes it very tough on poor people. There’s all kinds of ways to get charged with “fraud” if you take payments, even if you still need the money to feed your kids and pay the rent. My friend received a one-time payment of $20, reported it, and saw his monthly payment drop by $20. He had to go though another ponderous procedure to get them finally stop that crap. Seems like all this hate over such a small amount of money (for a woman who’s had trouble finding work for years) is a bit extreme.

Are you trying to interrupt the punching down or something?

This will all be so much funnier when she is homeless.

There but for the grace…

no, but you can have PTSD alongside something that does.

We all agree you’re a better human being than she is, and we’re all here looking for reasons to withhold our compassion too!

Hey I have this barrel full of ducks, want to take a shot?

What is is a wise man once said to me? Ahh, that’s right, “You’re better than this”

I believe the clinical term here is “transracial”.

ETA I know nothing about Dozeal other than her as a punch line so I am not going to defend her in any way. I can however empathize with her not being accepting of her racial identity.

Which aspects of the human experience can be so fluid, respectably? That’s rhetorical. No beef with your post.

I know she is a powerful elected official who has misused her authority to abuse her underlings and regularly challenges their right to dignity. OH WAIT.

I’m disappointed in you, commentariat. All this punching down is not a good look.

Your disappointment is noted.

Criticising a white person who chose to parasitically exploit the victims of white supremacy is not “punching down”.

Clinical in what way? I don’t have a copy of the DSM V on my shelf, but there would be some mention of its addition since these sorts of things make news. Did I miss it?

I never meant to imply anything other than that it has a name.
