“counter-argument” also includes the direct financial stimulus to the artist, foundry and all the other people on that chain of getting this done. None of whom, I’m guessing will sock that money away but rather proceed to spend it on in the community.

AFAIK, most manhole covers come from ironworks companies in India, don’t they?

As long as the Woodstar Cafe remains open all is good in the Happy Valley.
Damn, I miss their ginger-molasses cookies.

There are Japanese artisanal manhole covers, but maybe they are outsourced as well

Wow. Those are really nice.

Still, with manhole cover theft as “a thing”, like brick theft in places like St. Louis, I wish them luck in keeping them safe.

Though sewer systems did prove to be a useful tool for tracking COVID-19 outbreaks.
