Odd Stuff (Part 1)

Why are there never free power sockets when my Y-fronts need charging?

Three-quarters of crucial border IT systems at risk of failure? Bah, it’s not like Brexit is looks at watch err… next month

None of this matters of course since the actual official plan for the borders in a no-deal scenario is just not to do any checks or require any paperwork.

The British are well known for queuing, not so much for customer service. Could be fun times.

Remind me to STAY OUT of W. Va. during hunting season.

The link gives me the ole 451: Unavailable due to legal reasons so I can only speculate about the “adaptive equipment” - a spotter and tracer rounds to walk the fire in?

I hope neither of you wears glasses.

“Blind” is a term that’s on a legal spectrum. Some blind people have sight that can be augmented. I think the hunting is pointless, but I don’t think a technically assisted blind person would have to be any worse than anyone else.

You’re more likely to be killed by someone careless or drunk, than someone taking extra care to get through the world’s ableist BS.

That wish comes 45 years too late.

Having grown up in WV, and learned not to go into the woods during hunting season, then practiced in the PICU at WVU and had that fact strongly reinforced, I can only say “drunk and careless” is pretty much the motto of the WVian hunter.

The license plate motto is “Wild, Wonderful”.

Also IIRC you need a spotter?

Don’t forget “Almost Heaven”

“Delegate Geoff Foster, R-Putnam, spoke in support as well, saying the bill would give the state control over an ongoing practice.”

“I didn’t realize you’re actually allowed to hunt whether you’re blind or not, it doesn’t make a difference, you can get the hunting license, you can hunt now,” he said.

Yeah, stay out of the W. Va. woods or what some call heaven may be closer than you think.

The problem isn’t that legally blind people can hunt with assistive tech.

If hunting’s legal, then that shouldn’t be an issue.

Focusing on “Haha blind people doing stuff, watch out!” is kind of dickish.

Legally blind people are just people, and they’re the butt of too many mean-spirited jokes already.

And, on the flip side, since they’re people, they can also be disgustingly bigoted about other people. This is the asshole (who happens to be legally blind) behind the hunting bill.

Whatever, making fun of legally blind people just for being blind is dickish.

No disrespect to your need for lols, but “Watch out! Blind People!” is a shitty take.
