It’s a known thing (except by me until now) that some 200 species of birds will disturb an ant hill, and either vigorously dust themselves with angry ants, or pick them up and place them directly on their feathers. This is called “Anting”, and no one is sure why they do it. Theories include killing bird parasites, or that the birds get off on it.

I hate people sometimes.
Most times.
Recently…pretty much all the time.

I think there’s a larger lesson here.
That guy panicked when things got chaotic and dangerous, and instead of being part of the solution he made everything worse. And then the guy who was trying to help him, instead of understanding that amateurs get freaked in this sort of situation, went tit-for-tat, leaving the car to burn.
And I’ll bet you the guy in the car, and the rescue guy, both had more training and experience for this kind of situation than the vast majority of people who insist that carrying a gun with them everywhere is what will keep them safe. No, they’re going to panic and make really poor decisions in the moment, just like most people do.
Dangerous machines without proper training are even more dangerous.

From what I read, the guy in the car was trying to comply but his engine wouldn’t shut down and then he became angry at the track workers’ lack of assistance. The whole thing seemed entirely avoidable. (And as a valuable lesson: install an emergency battery cut-off if you’re planning to take your car to the track.)
