… I think the camera was attached to the closest diver’s helmet and whatever physical armature there was in between was being edited out of the image somehow

Ah, it looks too far away from his head to be on an arm.
I saw the other two gliders with cameras on stalks.
Kind of an optical illusion then, and not witchcraft, as I first suspected.
