I had a no-holds-barred real chemistry set too…Bunsen burner and everything. No toys though, dangerous or otherwise.

Mine had that too. Ferric ammonium sulfate is another I remember. There was sulfur, and I could have got some charcoal, but I didn’t know of a source for saltpetre. (6:1:1, if I recall.)
I had a little blob of mercury from a thermometer that I would roll around in my hand. I often wonder what I might have achieved with my life…

I have low-res photographic proof of it!
I was just learning to skate, so I used a broom to help me stay upright. Man, were those metal wheels NOISY.
