Dirt in my neighborhood of Puget Sound, scoured to the bedrock by the last glaciation, is less than 15,000 years old.
A co-worker of mine commonly uses the expression “since dirt was clean”. I’m guessing that would predate the appearance of life on Earth, which would be pretty old.
