It would be interesting to read case studies of how CC licensed works supported different socially shared uses than conventionally licensed work.
There are nonprofits that license original content (e.g. curriculum, forms, manuals) CC to share with other nonprofits without dumping the material into the public domain where it can be appropriated by another party for profit or misused.
And as the materials are modified over time, the improvements can also be shared under the same CC license which avoids duplicated effort and redundant costs.
