One design firm's jargon-free contract: 'Time is money. More time is more money'

Laws beat contracts every time. If your contract runs afoul of the law, the law takes precedence. I can’t defend myself on a murder charge because I was contracted to kill the person, I can’t sell my children, I can’t sell myself into slavery. Beyond these very obvious examples contract law itself is incredibly complicated. I’m not saying your conclusion is wrong because I have no idea how this subject works. I can say that you can’t ignore law if you look at a contract. It’s the law that says that contracts mean anything in the first place - without law they’d just be pieces of paper with words on them.
