The skies above neighbouring countries are teeming with NATO SIGINT planes. Whether they would be willing to release such recordings for a trial is another question.
These are just the ones operating right now that have their AIS turned on. There’s probably a lot more going on, in terms of planes, drones, ships, satellites and ground based reconnaissance.
To be fair, that particular mushroom cloud would most likely have been from one of NATO’s tactical nukes. And in 1986 I would have been involved in making it.
