I really want to see this, as a fan of the series what I’ve seen looks great.
But, from everything I’ve read they mined someone else’s IP to generate profit in the form of a functioning studio plus potential income from the project itself.
Part of me hopes they get away with it as I’d love to see some of the Star Wars EU books made into fan films. Never happen, but that’s why it’s hope.

What if they offer to turn the fan film into a big HP commercial? Will Paramount drop the suit then?

Well that’s the great thing about astroturf, it comes up as easily as it goes down once your second trailer gets a better reception.
