Yeah I thought of cordyceps too…
Trigger warning: It’s pretty gross.
I find quite a few grasshoppers in our community pool every year:
Not so obvious an infection but I suspect it’s a fungus telling them to “swim.”
ETA: Cordyceps is a real fungus on our planet. It is, AFAIK, just a parasite on insects.
