Basically the gorilla climbing the skyscraper was meant as a metaphor for achieving the pinnacle of human enlightenment, but the symbolism went over most audiences’ heads at the time.

Yes. Thank you. Also that ‘sex work\er’ doesn’t hold quite the same stigma and, religious considerations aside, pejorative and judgmental sense that the outdated term does.
