It was 70 degrees in St. Louis yesterday (30 degrees above the average high), but tomorrow schools are closed for an ice storm that’s going to hit early in the afternoon and probably shut down roads for the weekend.

All that evaporated water vapor has to go somewhere, and in the winter that means more snow.
Oceans heat up, more evaporation = more snow.
Great Lakes don’t freeze over, more evaporation = more snow.
Once the climate system can no longer dump the energy to convert that vapor into snow, we’re in for a short sharp shower of hot … rain.
