Wait, you can get malware from a torrent of porn? Nobody could have foreseen this!

#3

Man, the FBI? Who believes that?

Some of these hackers are just lazy. A guy brought in his computer to get fixed where I worked the other day. He got a message stating all of his data was encrypted and demanded payment to decrypt it. The reality? Nothing was encrypted. It was just a browser hijack and Trojan.

If only people would read the EULAs for apps, this kind of thing would never happen.

#5

How to fix the problem

  1. Boot device into safe mode (method depends on device)
  2. Remove administrator privilege. Settings > Security > Device Administrator > select ransomware app > deactivate.
  3. Settings > Apps > Uninstall ransomware app

#6

Or go via adb, and commandline. Or, if rooted, run ssh; dropbear does wonders. Then kill the process and delete the files.

#7

Removable mem cards for the win!

In Russia porn watches you.

#9

Because Russian hackers hire only the most honest lawyers to write theirs. Scrupulous!

#10

Honest or lawyers?

 By clicking “Accept”, you grant this software and its rightsholders the entitlement to take compromising pictures of you and extort money from you in return for not publicizing the pictures.

For what it is, this idea seems… kind of genius. Though i’m not sure how lucrative it would be, remembering the earlier article on Russian hackers haggling for ransoms
