Is there any reason given why Yrth didn’t advance TLs as quickly as Earth did?
For a normal person, ten minutes of rest restores one FP. But since you’ve got the Recover Energy spell, Hawk recovers one FP every five minutes of rest.
An experienced rider could “rest” for FP recovery purposes while sitting on a quietly walking horse. Hawk…maybe. Try it and see.
Sure, let’s give it a whirl.
Something tells me that the pleasantness of Hawk’s journey is going to be almost entirely dependant on how much the horse likes him.

Most Yrthians are unaware of any technological difference between Earth and Yrth.
Unknown to the rest of you, but known to Thwip: It is common knowledge within the Yrthian engineering community that getting too outspoken or ostentatious with technology is Not A Good Idea. On a small scale, the Wizard’s Guilds tend to take offence whenever some new bit of machinery threatens an established source of income. Do not meddle in the affairs of wizards, for they are unionised and quick to arson…
On a larger scale…master engineers do seem to disappear suddenly on a fairly regular basis. Get a bunch of engineers together over a drink and everyone has their own theory to mutter about, but nothing is certain.
Oh yeah. Who is with Lord Arron? I assume the coachman and at least someone to help him with the curse. Bodyguards?
At the moment, Ranar is the coachman, Hawk is riding close escort, Jibrīl and de Courcy are on point while Thwip rides tail guard. Arron is alone inside the carriage.
BTW, Thwip: how are you carrying your airgun? You wouldn’t want it on display if you run into the Wazifi authorities.
It’s about four feet long.
What does the carriage look like?
Also, was he able to determine the architectural style and guess at the possible use of the buildings in the painting?
Roll 3d6 against your architecture skill.
The carriage is a fairly basic small stagecoach. Four wheels, two horses, enclosed.
Thwipgun in action:
What may not be clear from the vid: you need to hold the gun vertically in order to re-cock it. It’s a gravity-feed magazine.
It also takes about half an hour of frantic pumping to recharge the air cylinder, and they’re rather fragile and prone to leaks (the tanks had a 1 in 3 failure rate in testing immediately after manufacture; these problems continued in service).
Something akin to this?
dice roll was 3,2,5 . Ten.
Something akin to this?
Pretty much, but a bit more eastern in styling.
The Justified Holy War Against The al-Wazif Infidels
Sorry, I couldn’t help but slip a wee bit of meta in there.
That post was way long than I intended when I started typing. I’ll start adding tl;drs if people request it. Hah!

BTW, something for characters with Magery to be aware of: The GM makes a Sense roll when you first see a magic item, and again when you first touch it. On a success, you intuitively know that the item is magical. A roll of 3 or 4 also tells you whether the magic is helpful or dangerous, and about how strong it is. Those without Magery do not get this roll.
Aronn’s staff and assorted bits of jewellery set off Hawk’s spidey sense, but that’s hardly surprising for an elf.
that’s hardly surprising for an elf.
And even less so for a mage who we’ve literally watched disappear into thin air.
But thanks for the info.
Thwip has his gun, BTW. It’s been about fifteen minutes since you turned off the main road.
I’ll edit the entry to reflect that.
Update: I wont.
Will you be needing a roll for trying to spot potential ambushers/ambush sites and such scouting-type things?

I would’ve if what just happened hadn’t happened…
What’s effective bow range, and how long before our new friends are in it?
edit Just reread the description. Are these long thin objects the horsemen are waving dull, curved and in anyway bow like? The Shiny-probably-swords type long, thin object? Or of the vaguely slingy variety?
I’m really hoping they’re not horse-archers. Those guys are not a good time in games as lethal as GURPS seems to be.
