You don’t need them having sex on your roof to be disturbed by the sound - I’ve been camping in forests during mating season and it is terrifying. They have this loud and deep demonic, pulsing call that carries through the forest at night. The first time I heard it I had no idea what it was - I didn’t get much sleep that night.
