It snowed out here today. I groomed out their undercoats for spring (so. much. fur.), so they didn’t like going out into the cold.
Brought in some snow instead. Got a shot of the buck enjoying a frozen treat.

The cute bun eats the snow?!
I tried that with our cats last time it snowed here. They were insulted
We watched an excellent movie last night “The Secret Of Roan Inish” It’s a mythical type movie about seals that occasionally shed their skin and come ashore to live with us mortals.
It’s an excellent movie from the 90s. I thought of this picture as we were watching it.
Mythical?
You don’t have Selkies running around your neighborhood?
They love it! We save some snow in the freezer, then give it to them in summer. They go crazy with excitement when they see it off-season.
I’ve got a video of some bunny snow-play, but it’s 77MB, so I’m figuring out how to post it here.
Edit: Created a channel for the bunnies’ video(s).
The cats chase them away
We live on a fresh water lake so no selkies but we do have a lot of drunk boaters taking selfies.
This is the sick guys mom. She’s about 6 or 7 years old. She’s a little too wild to bring inside so we just give her a heated shelter in our yard with plenty of fresh food and water. My wife is attempting to get her more social so maybe we can bring her in.
She’s sitting on a platform for our pump that waters the lawn. She likes to cross the ice but it’s that time of year where she might get stuck on the other side and then have to take the long way around.
She’s staring at the bird feeder but thankfully she’s not very good at catching birds.
I really want to watch that, particularly in Irish. But it isn’t available in the US
It looks like Vudu will have it on March 17th, 13 bucks to buy but no rental price yet.
Of course there are other ways but morals and all.
in Miami, Florida
yes, indeed! there is a flock (a band, a cacaphony?) of them that live in the trees outside a medical center I go to 3-4 times a year and they are noisy! beauties, every one, I think they are really cool. did not know where they came from, always assumed they were Cuban. TIL
I love collective nouns. I turned up “a chatter of parakeets.”
Parrots, OTOH, can be called a “pandemonium.”
Probably they retired and travelled to Florida!
Good question!
I hope these doctor visits of yours are just for a checkup!
I myself had never seen these parakeets around here. At first I thought it was the Maracanã parakeet ( Psittacara leucophthalmus ), but I noticed that it was a very different bird. I was curious about the yellow feathers and read that they are well adapted to life in big cities. Probably they were kept as pets and somehow managed to flee, just like the parakeets of London.
