I haven’t seen the film yet, but this is the exact tone I felt from the book “White Noise”; sleepwalking through a disaster whose growing magnitude isn’t enough to command anyone’s full attention.

I kept thinking during the first 55 or so seconds, Good metaphor for climate change. And then, boom.

It’s also a good one for other things though, like creeping neoliberalism, as when the hubby/daddy says he’ll be staying late at the office. More and more work, for no more pay, etc.
