PSA: Two-factor authentication available

If you happen to login to the BBS directly (that is, you don’t use Google/Facebook/etc to login), you can now choose to enable two-factor authentication (2FA) for your account!

To do so, simply click on your avatar in the menu, and then the little gear icon, to get to your preferences page. You’ll see the option there.

I strongly recommend Authy as your 2FA app over Google Authenticator, as the latter allows you to keep an (encrypted) backup of your auth tokens should you change phones (either intentionally or due to loss or theft).

Wait, what? GAuth doesn’t offer something which helps you when switching phones?

I have to admit to never had used it so far. But this sounds stupid by design.

Correct. Google Authenticator doesn’t save your seeds, so a restore won’t help you.
